Abernethy Laurels - Retirement Community in North Carolina
Abernethy Laurels is a continuing care retirement community located in Newton, NC.
Last week, we hosted a quarterly luncheon for social workers in the Unifour area, offering them a chance to socialize, network, and have fun! The attendees also included case workers, marketing and admissions folks, people from skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, DSS agencies, The Chamber of Catawba County, PACE at Home, and more. We had a great turnout and enjoyed catching up with friends and colleagues. Door prizes were donated by CenterWell Home Health, Kingston Residence of Hickory, and the Alzheimer's Association - Western Carolina. In addition, we created and gave away five gift baskets, five gift cards, and 14 potted chrysanthemums. Great event, so great to see social workers have a special lunch!
Thanks to Hurricane Helene, the weather for Friday does not look good. So, we've made the difficult decision to cancel the cruise-in we had scheduled for September 27.
However, we're still holding our bake sale, and we would love your support for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s as we sell a variety of sweet treats!
Drop by North Manor (the rear building on campus) between 12 noon and 6 pm on Friday to browse the selection and take home something scrumptious just for yourself (we won't tell!) or the entire family!
We would also appreciate any donation you'd like to make for the @walk2endalzunifour. Many of you know how much dementia affects older adults and their families, and you may even have loved ones in our memory support household on campus.
By walking, we're helping find treatments and even discover cures for the various types of dementia. Can you imagine the freedom and joy of life without that disease?!

My mother-in-law is at your facility in one of the “condos” and we cannot get in touch with her (we are in Cincinnati). Also, your phone line is down. Needless to say we are worried.
